Booral QLD History
Booral is believed to have been derived from one of two words from the local Badjala Aboriginal people— Beiral the name of the sky god or the word burrall which means ‘place of shell mounds’. It is believed that Aboriginal people inhabited the area for over 6,000 years. Businessman, Edgar Thomas Aldridge established the Booral Homestead in the 1850s.
Booral Modern Industrialisation
Overlooking the Great Sandy Strait toward Fraser Island, Booral Hervey Bay is located 40 km south of Maryborough and 14 km south-east of Pialba; the area was previously outlying farmland.
It later became an industrial estate capitlising on its outer-fringe location, with residential development consisting mostly of low-density acreage settlements. The Hervey Bay Airport, industrial warehouses, distribution centres and light industry are located here.
The region’s amazing 1990s population growth sparked suburban real estate Booral subdivisions which increased the region’s residential population. Booral boasts an active Community Association involved with foreshore management and wildlife conservation.
