Hervey Bay Alternative High School Options

There are two alternative high school options in Hervey Bay that cater especially to the needs of students that prefer a different type of high school experience. Of course, there is also a vocational path via Tafe (but that option has been included under our adult education section).

Carinity Education Glendyne is a Special Assistance School which provides an alternative educational setting for students with high-level needs. The school also caters for students with social and emotional disabilities, and/or those that may be at risk of disengagement from education. Likewise, those students that may do better in a setting with flexible learning structures with a focus on developing social and life skills that equip them with strategies to help overcome day-to-day life challenges rather than on an academic curriculum.

Hervey Bay Performing Arts College was  founded in 2017 specifically catering to students wishing to focus on the performing arts industry. The school believes in nurturing and guiding students to reach their full potential both academically & practically. In collaboration with Cairns School of Distance Education, they strive to provide students with the best possible alternate high school experience.
