Although classified as being out of town, this area is quite handy to some of the best private schools in Hervey Bay including St James, Bayside Christian College, Xavier & FCAC. There are plenty of good options whether looking at the public, private, pre-school, primary, secondary or tertiary levels.
Compare the schools in the Sunshine Acres catchment area.
Since there is no public transport here, it’s best to have a car if living in the area, especially since the homes are predominantly small to large acreage and it’s an out of town location. There is a school bus service, or calling a taxi or Uber are available options if you don’t have access to a vehicle.

Where is Sunshine Acres?
You’ll find Sunshine Acres, QLD 4655 situated around the four-way roundabout junction of the roads to Maryborough, Hervey Bay, Torbanlea and Booral / River Heads. There are plenty of large acreage properties all along Booral Road, with a wide range of different home styles, sizes and prices throughout Parke Ave and Condor Drive Sunshine Acres.
If you seek a rural tree change that is in very close proximity to everything Hervey Bay has to offer, Sunshine Acres is a good option worth exploring. This lovely rural region is very handy to the neighbouring suburb of Nikenbah which offers more of a residential lifestyle. Nearby rural areas include Walligan, Takura and Bunya Creek.
Shopping is easily accessible, with Eli Waters Shopping Centre (Woolworths) and Stockland Shopping Centre (Coles & Aldi), just down the road between ten and fifteen minutes by car. Of course, the town of Maryborough, another option is an easy twenty minutes drive.
Benefits of Sunshine Acres Lifestyle
Many a Sunshine Acres property is indeed a home among the gum trees— the benefits for people that choose this type of lifestyle are many; they are a part of a rural community, generally, experience greater health and well-being, and a slower, more peaceful existence than those that live in the city. Best of all, you can own your own little piece of the bush with plenty of open space, and still have easy access to all basic services like shopping, schools, and hospitals. A home here won’t cost you a great deal either as Hervey Bay is still one of the most affordable and highly desirable places in which to live.
There doesn’t appear to be much vacant land for sale in the area, but homes do sell quickly as more families embrace the country way of living. Rural lifestyle blocks aren’t for everyone, but those that have tried it usually do so very enthusiastically; often going on to buy larger or more luxurious properties in the beachfront areas of Booral, River Heads, or Dundowran Beach or further out to rural townships like Burrum Heads.
