There are several schooling options located here including Tiaro State School (primary level) as well as several other state schools including Gundiah, Mungar and Parke State Schools in nearby areas. There doesn’t appear to be any public transport options that service the region although there is a Greyhound bus that connects the region to Hervey Bay, these may also stop in Maryborough and surrounding towns if necessary but it would be best to make a direct inquiry with Greyhound for specific details.

Tiaro Foodworks, several cafes, hairdressing, and a few retail shops cater for local residents with small local shops at but major shopping is best done at Station Square Shopping Centre, Maryborough. Do check out the famous Tiaro Meats & Bacon Butcher Shop.

Where is Tiaro QLD?
Fraser Coast’s quaint township of Tiaro, situated on the Mary River is just 27kms south of Maryborough and km from beautiful Hervey Bay. The predominant industries in the area are farming and timber. The Tiaro Visitor Information Centre situated on Bruce Highway is filled with local knowledge about the area. Located next door in a restored railway station is Craft Cottage featuring locally made arts, crafts, and produce for sale.
The region is rich in picturesque scenery, historic hotels, rural charm, and hospitality. The Mary River offers plenty of fishing, camping, and canoeing opportunities as well as rare Mary River turtle and ancient Australian lungfish sightings.
Old stock routes and country roads are ideal for bushwalking, mountain biking, and horse riding. It is also the ancestral home of the Macadamia nut. You’ll find good old-fashioned service in both historic country pubs: Hideaway Station Hotel (1881) or the Royal Hotel. Another of the town’s more unusual attractions is the very famous Tiaro Meats & Bacon Butcher Shop (well known throughout Australia). Fancy a country scenic drive? Follow the Fraser Coast Country Drive Trail to see old-rail sidings, the Dickabram Bridge, and other quaint towns of Gundiah, Bauple, and Theebine.
